The Mandaue City government is eyeing building new roads in Brgy. Umapad to ease traffic during the construction of the tri-level pass. The project worth PhP1 billion will include a tunnel, flyover, and a road on United Nations Ave. and DM Cortes St. Aside from new roads, Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisimbing is also considering the addition of barge and roll-on/roll-off ships and water taxi services from Mandaue City to Mactan Island. The tri-level pass is expected to be complete sometime in 2018 or 2019.

Hotter weather ahead

Locals and tourists are advised to prepare for hotter weather this May. Although there will be no El Niño this year, forecasted temperatures for the month will be as high as 35 ºC. During the onset of El Niño in 2010, the highest recorded temperature in Cebu was at 37 ºC. Alfredo Quiblat, chief of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Mactan has urged the public to stay indoors from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and to drink lots of water.
