February is one of the busiest months in Boracay. On the first week of the month, the island welcomes flocks of tourists for the Chinese New Year celebration. After that, the island is painted red for Valentine’s Day!

Though always teeming with tourists, Boracay remains a favorite destination of many to celebrate the day of hearts. Once recognized as one of the most romantic islands in the world by an international travel magazine, Boracay and its many establishments have perfected the craft of making hearts flutter.

If you’re in Boracay and thinking of how to make it extra special for your Valentine, here’s something you can do to spice up your vacation.

Romantic accommodations for your special someone

Boracay, especially the White Beach area, usually gets crowded with lovers, or even singles during Valentine’s Day. If you want to have an intimate moment with your special someone, you can book an accommodation away from the crowd.

If you prefer to stay in a more tranquil spot at the White Beach, the “Lovestruck” package of Discovery Shores Boracay located in Station 1.

This Valentine’s Day, they are offering a romantic package for couples to enjoy called “Table for Two”. You can either select a dinner at their restaurant, Indigo, or a romantic dinner by the beach. Discovery Shores staff will prepare a beautiful setting for your dinner by the shore complete with romantic music and lighting, plus a personal butler to assist you all through the night.

You can also make your evening more personal by adding a sand castle with inscriptions of your initials, a beautiful bouquet of flowers or a cake.

End with a night full of romance, too!

You can treat your partner to an extra special dinner under the moonlight. If you are booked at Shangri-la Boracay, you can taste the resort’s delectable offerings while enjoying the sea breeze. You can choose to have your private dinner either at Punta Bunga Beach or Banyugan Beach or at your own villa.

To make your date night extra memorable, Shangri-la Boracay can also arrange a fireworks show, an acoustic band performance, or a fire dancers and drummers routine just for the two of you.

But Boracay is not just for those who can splurge. You can still glamorize your date without going over the budget. Restaurants along the beachfront area, especially those in Stations 2 and 3, offer special dinners for Valentine’s Day. You can have your own memorable date for less than Php1,000 while enjoying a live band.

For those who prefer the indoor chill, you can spend the night over a bottle of wine at Chillax. This wine bar is located along the main road in Station 2.

Adventure activities fit for two

If you are a couple who are looking for some adventure time, the island offers some action-packed activities that can be enjoyed by duos. Catch the stunning sunset of Boracay with its popular paraw-sailing activity. This time, enjoy it with just the two of you. Well, except for the boat man, but he could help capture your moments together. Outside tour and accommodation packages, a 30-minute sail for two along the shores of Boracay costs Php1,500.

Another activity to try with a partner is parasailing. You’ll surely feel some butterflies in your stomach, not just because of “kilig” (romantic excitement), but for flying meters high in the air. The parasailing activity is offered at Php1,000 to Php1,200 per person, depending on your haggling skills.

To avoid paying extra for commissioners, you can directly manage a trip for paraw-sailing and parasailing activities in Station 1 and along Station 3 where the accredited water sports operators are located.

If you want some land adventure, do some horseback riding at Bulabog Beach or at Mt. Luho. The horse riding activity is offered by Boracay Stables for Php900 per person an hour, or Php1,200 for an hour and 30 minutes. Teach your partner or ride a horse together and you’ll surely strengthen the connection that you share.

Pull off a surprise

Being together in Boracay does not mean you can’t surprise your partner on Valentine’s Day. A gift that could put a smile on your partner’s face is something that is even more personalized and could last longer than memories do. For those with a brave heart, you can have your lover’s name inked on your skin at Nomer’s Tattoo shop along the beachfront in Station 2.

Another surprise you can present to your partner is by giving her bouquet of flowers. You can ask your resort accommodation to help you pull off this surprise. But if you want to purchase the flowers by yourself, you can go to Florista Flowershop.

They have an assortment of local and imported flowers and can arrange personalized bouquets which costs Php1,000 to Php1,500 depending on the flowers of your choice. But for those on a budget, you can already get a lovely long-stemmed flower for Php100. They also have human-sized teddy bears priced at Php3,000 to Php3,500.

Florista Flowershop is located along the main road in Balabag.

Valentine’s is for singles, too!

To be single on a Valentine’s Day is not bad at all when you are in an island with a vibrant nightlife. You’ll never feel alone when you party at Epic Bar and you can even win a date in the island’s famous party spot at the heart of Station 2. Or you can check the vibe at the newly renovated Club Paraw in Station 1. You can also head to a number of restaurants organizing “auction-a-date” and “speed dating” activities in the island.
