Negros Occidental is known for its locally sourced organic products. As a matter of fact, Negros Organic Festival, a five-day event dedicated to showcasing the local and organic products of Negros held last November 2015, posted more than Php3,000,000.00 in sales.
For lovers of all things organic and local, the Negros Farmers Weekend Market sure won’t disappoint.
Negros Farmers Weekend Market, located at Magsaysay Street, Bacolod City, has five zones. Zone 1 is the designated Demo Farm, Zone 2A doubles as a dining space and grill area, and Zone 3 is the main dining space/food court of the area. Meanwhile, Zone 4 is the Retail Area and Zone 5, near the entrance, is the Fresh Produce Zone.
Chemical free products sold at the market
Negros Farmers Weekend Market prides itself with its naturally-farmed and chemical-free products. There are organic vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, onion, potato, garlic, bell pepper, cucumber, and bitter gourd. There are also fresh fruits such as banana, lemon, avocado, mango, pineapple, and mangosteen.

Negros Farmers Weekend Market does not only showcase raw materials produced by farmers—it is also open to producers of native products such as bags and baskets, and accessories like bracelets to necklaces.

Who’s up for some carbs? Among the famous dishes in the weekend market are authentic Spanish Paella from The Paella Place, and juicy and meaty grilled burgers from St. Jordi Meat Center. These stalls can be found near the garden area, where the expanded dining area is. Cheaper and Filipino home-cooked dishes are relatively easy to spot. Stalls that serve food that hits home include Linda’s Lutong Bahay, OwaTaks, Daily Apple, and Señor Pedro. An order of viand starts at Php50.00.
Now, the experience wouldn’t be complete without a pangtulak—or a drink to help shove the food down, right? In Desserts Plus, other than Halo-Halo and Mais Con Yelo, they also serve fresh drinks like lemon iced tea and pineapple-carrot juice, among others.
As the name suggests, Negros Farmers Weekend Market is open only every Saturdays and Sundays, from 7 AM to 3 PM.
